The opportunity

We're seeking an established IT Operations manager to join the 2plan Wealth Management team. Overseeing the resolution of IT incidents and identifying issues to prevent future disruptions, you'll be responsible for the management and the organisation of the IT Support function.

As the IT Operations Manager you will be leading infrastructure- related projects, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, timely delivery, and minimal disruption to business operations.

This role is Hybrid with 2 days per week in our Leeds office.

Key Accountabilities:

Team & Service Management

  • Lead the IT Support team to deliver a high standard of service and technical support to staff and advisers.
  • Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support, acting as an escalation point for complex or high-impact issues.
  • Manage the support ticket queue to ensure timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
  • Promote and uphold a culture of excellent customer service across all IT touch-points.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance service efficiency and performance.
Infrastructure & Systems Oversight
  • Oversee the process of core business applications, ensuring compliance with IT security and licensing policies.
  • Ensure timely deployment of updates and patches across servers and endpoints in line with security policies.
  • Maintain the Active Directory, ensuring user accounts, permissions, and group policies are effectively managed.
  • Ensure robust backup processes and verifying they meet business continuity requirements.
Supplier & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Manage relationships with IT service providers, ensuring service levels are achieved and value is delivered.
  • Represent the IT Operations function acting as a key point of contact for operational IT matters.
Monitoring, Reporting & Analysis
  • Monitor the capacity, performance, and availability of IT environments, proactively reducing impact.
  • Produce meaningful management information.
  • Manage and escalate IT issues and risks appropriately, ensuring stakeholders are informed and actions are taken.

What will you need to succeed?

  • Proven experience leading and managing an IT Service Desk or Support function in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1st and 2nd line technical background, with experience supporting server and/or business-critical applications.
  • Experience coordinating with third-party IT providers and managing service delivery against SLAs.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and Azure-based IT infrastructure and operations.
  • Good working knowledge and practical application of ITIL processes and best practices.
  • Ability to understand and align IT operations with 2plan Group’s strategic aims and business goals.
  • Experience of Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop environments, Active Directory maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of physical and virtual server infrastructure (including storage systems).
  • Experience with system monitoring tools and performance analysis.  Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage performance and motivate a team.
  • Effectively manages multiple tasks and priorities, meeting deadlines and shifting focus as business needs change.
  • Demonstrates initiative, problem-solving ability, and a structured, analytical approach to challenges.
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities and follows through to resolution, ensuring outcomes are delivered.
  • Brings a mindset focused on refining processes and delivering better outcomes for users and the business.
  • Flexible and responsive to change, maintaining a positive approach in a dynamic environment.
  • Understands the wider business context, organisational culture, and aligns IT operations accordingly.
  • Confident in leading small to medium-sized projects, coordinating resources, and ensuring successful delivery
