The opportunity

The Business Continuity and Incident Management Consultant will support the Business Continuity and Group Incident Management Lead, in ensuring the effective application and compliance of the Business Continuity and Incident Management frameworks. They will assist with monitoring adherence, compiling performance metrics, and contributing to ongoing improvements. They’ll also play a key role in enhancing the overall resilience of Openwork and its partners, by helping to align frameworks with regulatory requirements. This includes fostering cross-market collaboration, under the guidance of the Group Lead.

This is a fixed term hybrid role, based in our Swindon office, with the requirement to be in the office 2/3 days a week.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing support to the Business Continuity and Group Incident Management Lead during periods of absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision-making.
  • Assisting in coordinating the annual review of business impact assessments for each area or team and contribute to the development and maintenance of business continuity plans.
  • Supporting the annual assessment of operational resilience by gathering data, preparing documentation, and facilitating review processes.
  • Helping track and report on the progress of the annual refresh against established plans, identifying and communicating any challenges that may impact timely completion.
  • Providing administrative and coordination support for incident management activities, including organizing meetings, documenting minutes, recording action items, and following up to ensure timely completion.
  • Assisting in preparing the monthly Management Information pack for the Group Resilience SteerCo, collating relevant documents, and tracking committee actions.
  • Supporting the planning and implementation of the annual testing and exercise programme, ensuring effective participation and documentation of outcomes.
  • Contributing to stakeholder training and awareness initiatives to strengthen organisational resilience.
  • Monitoring progress against the resilience governance plan, supporting consistent advancement and adherence to milestones.
 

What will you need to succeed?

 
  • Minimum 1 year of operational risk and control experience in Financial Services desirable.
  • Experience of Business Continuity Management and or Incident Management – desirable.
  • Knowledge of Crisis Incident Management Standard 22361 and Business Continuity Management standard 22301 an advantage.
  • Knowledge of SMCR and responsibilities of the COO function.
  • Knowledge of Openwork products, services and processes is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling thorough evaluation of complex situations and effective root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated resilience and adaptability when supporting incident response activities, maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Project management and organisational skills that deliver lasting value for the organisation.
  • Strong attention to detail with the capability to critically assess, investigate, and appropriately challenge existing practices.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities, which enhance trust and contribute to improved outcomes.
  • Confident and positive team member with the ability to connect with colleagues at all levels and explains technical concepts in simple terms.
  • Experience of monitoring and effective reporting that drives effective decision making.
